Mangalarga Marchador

1. Origin and history of the breed The Mangalarga Marchador is a traditional Brazilian horse breed, whose origins date back to the 17th–19th centuries, when domestic mares were crossed with imported Andalusian and Iberian horses, mainly from the Alter Real line, which was brought to Brazil by one of the first breeders. These crosses gradually developed a type of horse with a smooth, comfortable gait and versatile riding skills.
