Origin and history of the breed The Rhinelander (Rheinisches Reitpferd, Rhenish Warmblood) is a German breed of sport horse, focused on dressage, jumping, eventing and recreational riding. Its breeding is centered around the Warendorf state stud, where it has long shared a place with the Westphalian breed and other German warmbloods.
