Eriskay pony

1. Origin and history of the breed: The Eriskay pony is one of the oldest native pony breeds in the British Isles. It originated through isolated selection on and around Eriskay in the Outer Hebrides in northwestern Scotland, where horses were needed for everyday tasks by farmers (crofting), such as carrying peat, seaweed for manure, and carrying cargo and children.
